01Start with a problem the glossy brochure cannot answer
A buyer rarely loses time because a supplier forgot to use a polished photograph. The costly failures happen later: the quotation belongs to one entity, the invoice names another, the certificate logo has no searchable number, or the sample was approved against a drawing revision that production never received. Those gaps are hard to see when a sourcing project is still a list of names in a spreadsheet.
The useful question is therefore not “Does this website look like a factory?” It is “Can I connect the website, legal entity, factory contact, certificates, real parts and commercial documents into one consistent evidence chain?” The seven checks below are designed for that decision.
021. Match the website to the legal company
Record the full legal name in Chinese and English, the Unified Social Credit Identifier, registered address and establishment date. Then compare those details across the supplier website and at least one independently maintained public or industry record. Small differences in English transliteration can occur; the Chinese legal name and credit identifier should remove the ambiguity.
For Anxin, the legal entity is 山西安信铸造科技股份有限公司 (Shanxi Anxin Casting Technology Co., Ltd.), credit identifier 911409246898575801, established 31 May 2009. The official verification page links the DQS customer database, a verified Foundry.cn profile, a government public list, an engineering-society record and independent reporting. Each source supports only the fact written beside it; a directory entry is not a product approval.
032. Verify certificate numbers, not certificate logos
A logo on a website is a prompt to investigate, not the end of the investigation. Ask for the certificate registration number, issuing body, issue date and validity date. Search the certification body’s own customer database where one exists, and compare the legal name on the record with the entity that will quote and contract.
Anxin publishes DQS registration 50053832 IATF25 and IATF registration 0577748, issued 11 July 2025 and valid until 10 July 2028. Its ISO 9001:2015 record is DQS registration 50053832 QM15, issued 4 July 2024 and valid until 3 July 2027. These are management-system credentials. They do not, by themselves, approve a material grade, pressure duty, leakage limit or new component. Those decisions still belong in the project review.
043. Separate a factory contact from a project contact
International projects are often handled by a small export team using mobile messaging because it is fast across time zones. That is not automatically suspicious. The risk appears when the buyer cannot find a second route back to the legal company. A sound contact chain has at least two independent paths: a factory office or independently published company number, and a secure project channel on the official domain.
Anxin now identifies +86 350 555 1611 as the factory office and company-verification number; the verified Foundry.cn company profile also publishes that number. The international trade team uses +86 185 1163 8988, WhatsApp and the listed project mailbox for drawings and quotation follow-up. The official RFQ form is hosted on anxinfoundry.com and accepts common CAD and PDF formats without requiring an account.
054. Ask for part evidence that follows the manufacturing state
A factory tour photograph tells you that a building exists. It does not tell you whether the team understands your datums, sealing face or internal cavity. For a casting enquiry, the more useful evidence is a sequence: raw casting, machining setup or in-process condition, finished critical interfaces and the inspection evidence that applies to the part.
Look for consistency rather than visual perfection. Are the same ribs, bosses and bores visible through the stages? Does the stated material match the drawing and governing standard? Are machining allowances and datum surfaces understandable? Anxin’s product pages show factory-shot examples including HT250 bearing housings before and after machining, HT250 crankcases, compressor bodies, motor housings, chucks, cylinder heads, shaft bases and oil sumps. Those photographs demonstrate representative work; they do not pre-approve a new drawing.
065. Control the drawing before discussing price
Many “supplier quality” problems begin as document-control problems. Put the drawing number, revision, unit system and governing material standard in the RFQ. Identify the machined surfaces, datums, critical tolerances, casting condition and delivery condition. If the part crosses standards—HT or QT notation on one side, ASTM, EN or JIS terminology on the other—do not rely on a grade-name substitution. Confirm the standard, edition and acceptance values in writing.
A supplier cannot quote leakage risk, heat treatment, special characteristics or inspection documents from a photograph. Send the service medium, pressure, temperature, load, fatigue or impact condition when they matter. If a requirement is unknown, label it as an open engineering point rather than allowing both sides to make different assumptions.
076. Define the evidence package before the first sample
“Inspection included” is too vague for an industrial casting. Decide what the first sample must prove and what each production batch must retain. Depending on the drawing, this may include material chemistry or mechanical-property records, dimensional reports, machining records, hardness, surface condition, pressure or leakage testing, non-destructive examination, traceability and sample approval.
The list should follow the actual risk. A non-pressure machine base and a pressure-retaining compressor housing do not need the same evidence. Ask the supplier to mark what is included in the quotation, what requires an external laboratory, what is destructive, and what adds lead time. This turns inspection from a late dispute into a planned deliverable.
087. Lock the commercial identity before payment
The legal entity on the contract, invoice and payment beneficiary should form one coherent chain. A change of beneficiary, domain, contact person or bank location after approval deserves a second-channel check. Call the factory office using a number obtained independently and confirm through the official website channel. Never treat an urgent messaging-app instruction as enough evidence for a payment change.
For Anxin enquiries, the legal entity is Shanxi Anxin Casting Technology Co., Ltd. / 山西安信铸造科技股份有限公司. The company does not ask customers to pay an individual or unrelated third party. This statement is deliberately simple because the control must also be simple: stop, verify through two routes, and only then update vendor master data.
09A short verification file saves a long recovery
Keep a one-page supplier-verification record with the legal identifiers, source links, certificate numbers, office and project contacts, drawing revision, quotation entity and agreed inspection package. Date each check. Public records and certificates change; a screenshot without a source and date becomes weak evidence surprisingly quickly.
Verification does not eliminate manufacturing risk, and it should not be used to pretend that every new component is already qualified. It does something more useful: it makes the remaining unknowns visible. Once identity, contact and commercial controls are stable, the engineering team can spend its time on the questions that actually determine whether the casting can be made, machined, inspected and delivered.
