Specify the material, not just “cast iron”
Gray iron and ductile iron grades need a governing specification. A precise material requirement supports a clear manufacturing and inspection agreement.

Treat equivalence as a technical question
A similar strength designation is not enough to establish full equivalence. The technical team needs to review the governing requirements and testing basis.
Connect material to inspection
Specify which certificates, test results and traceability details are needed. Confirm sampling and reporting requirements before the order.
Send the service context
Temperature, pressure and other service conditions can affect the technical discussion. Provide the equipment requirements; final material acceptance belongs in the agreed specification.
